How do you come up with ideas?
When
I come up with ideas for writing I like to use life experiences. One of the
best ways to relate to writing or reading is to have experienced it yourself.
Details are essential when brainstorming writing ideas; mood sets the stage.
What’s your strategy for doing research?
Facts and
creditability are crucial. When proper research is done, you are an informed
writer and there such make sure that the reader is informed. Facts can either
make or break a point you are trying to convey.
How long do you spend editing?
I’m not the
best at editing however; I always attempt to produce the final assignment to
the best of my ability. Always more editing can be done to make sure the final
product is the best it can be.
How much time do you schedule for proofreading?
When I
proofread I always make sure that words harmonize and have flow. While
proofreading is a great tool to use, sometimes you can over proofread and make
a final product worse not better. I
proofread several times until I am satisfied.
Do you use a word processor for all, or even part, of this process?
Why or why not? What are the benefits,
or the drawbacks, of doing so?
Yes
I do use a word processor for this part of the process. This tool is valuable
to proper writing. The benefits of using a word processor are: It acts as a
guide in writing, editing, and proofreading. The drawbacks are that a word
processor is not always correct and double checking is very important.
What aspects of your own process have and have not changed?
What has
changed about my writing process is that I am more aware of my grammar, making
sure commas, semicolons and periods are placed correctly. What has not changed
about my process is that I write on a more personable level; it makes me feel
more connected to the reader.
